A Garden for All Seasons

It’s March 31 today. New Years Eve.

Seriously. Spring is my new year. Tomorrow might be April Fools Day for the rest of the world…but for me, its New Years Day.

The sun is out, nature is waking, the migrating birds have returned to my yard and we are refereeing the food fights at the bird feeders. Out the kitchen window, I scrutinize the ground every day…eager to see what’s poking out of the soil. Dinner was overcooked two nights in a row.

A new season is the perfect time for all garden lovers to set resolutions for the year ahead. I asked my friends about their garden goals for this year and found inspiration for this blog from my friend Dawn in St. John’s, NL.

How can I get a low-maintenance garden with season-long blooms and year-round interest?

Like most things in life, great gardens don't just happen. They require planning, knowledge and inspiration.

Starting in April, we will begin a seasonal series designed to inspire and inform you on what’s coming into bloom. With our newsletter in hand, you will be able to look out the window at your garden and think about how each plant might suit your garden landscape. It’s a curated list with each plant selected for its beauty, reliability in our climate zone, low maintenance and versatility. Some you will recognize…and others you won’t. Most will come in a variety of colors and we will only recommend plants we like to use…no invasive or hard to grow plants allowed!

We’ll post regularly using Blogs and Nitty Gritty Guides on our social media accounts. Or, subscribe to our newsletter and see everything in one place along with profiles on new projects.

So, check out the “Whats In Bloom - Early Spring” guide on our website. Then, dust off the garden journal you got for Christmas last year to take notes and get ready to garden. (That’s the biblical Christmas…not my version which takes place on opening day at the garden center).

And, may your new garden resolutions come true!

From my glorious garden to yours,

Colleen

PS Our May newsletter will focus on spring blooming shrubs and we’ll tackle my friend Catherine’s challenges with nursery shopping. If you have a question you’d like us to answer drop me an email at colleen@thesheshed.com or message me on our Facebook or Instagram accounts.
