Colleen founded THE SHE SHED Home & Garden in 2015. For the preceding three decades, she spent her days in corporate offices and her nights and weekends planning, restoring and renovating homes and gardens.
THE SHE SHED draws on Colleen's breadth and depth of experience, leverages her training as a Master Gardener and supports her vision of beautiful, healthy homes, gardens and communities.
Prior to founding THE SHE SHED, Colleen worked with Halifax Seed and Atlantic Gardens in sales and greenhouse production roles.
Off season, Colleen is a human resource management consultant.
Senior Landscape Gardener
From pruning and plant identification to developing low-impact maintenance plans and beautiful designs, Rhaea is a natural in the garden. She is involved in all aspects of our operation from site visits to installations and is a site safety supervisor.
A graduate of Algonquin College’s Horticultural Industries program, Rhaea has held supervisory and front-line plant and grounds maintenance positions in Ottawa and Nova Scotia with industry-leaders including Halifax Seed and Peter Knipple Nursery Inc.
A founding member of the team, Rhaea brings perspective, experience and technical excellence to every job.
Helen played a key role in the design, build and maintenance of the courtyard garden for the Bella Rose Arts Center using Nova Scotia native plants. She is our go-to person when a client asks us to identify "mystery" plants or trees on their property. She has never been stumped! Helen's positive, can-do attitude helps keep our projects running smoothly.
A creative artist in and out of the garden, Helen's also enjoys lathe-turning, jewelry design and graphic novel literary work. She holds a Bachelor degree in Forensic Anthropology from St. Mary's University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in French from King's College.
Olivia's love of plants, gardens and design is beautifully demonstrated in her work, studies and lifestyle. In addition to working with THE SHE SHED, she is pursing a Bachelor of Education degree at Mount Saint Vincent University, tutors a horticultural student in plant and pest identification and works as a bespoke floral designer specializing in the use of locally grown plants. Olivia is the former coordinator for the Sackville Community Garden and has worked with Halifax Seed and Anderson's Greenhouse in Sackville, NB.
A gifted artist and aspiring educator, Olivia is certified under the wildlife and environmental conservation education program 'Project Wild' and is the recipient of the Emerging Artist Creation Grant and the Mount Saint Vincent University Green Investment Grant.
Amy brings 15 years of nursery, garden center and gardening experience to our team. She has a discerning eye for design, is unrelenting in her desire for perfection and is passionate about creating beautiful gardens for clients.
On the ground, Amy is an efficient and hard working team player. Her standards for plant care is high, her gardening skills are exceptional and we love it when she grabs her pencils and doodles a fabulous design for a new garden!
Amy is a graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Her Bachelor of Arts degree in Jewellery Design and Metalsmithing has honed her eye for detail and complements her professional nursery and gardening experience.
